Tony is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a successful record of delivery and growth in a number of sectors mainly highways but also nuclear, hospitals, telecoms and rail. He has worked in the UK and Canada leading teams to bid, win and deliver complex major projects, often in joint ventures and many involving project finance.

He joined Sir Robert McAlpine (SRM) in April 2017, to grow the civil engineering business as part of the CEO’s Senior Leadership Team. His responsibilities include SRM’s shareholding in Align, a joint venture delivering C1 for HS2, AmeySRM delivering projects for Highways England and two 30-year Roads concessions where SRM is both an investor and maintainer. He has held senior positions at Balfour Beatty and Tarmac/Carillion leading teams and businesses winning and delivering multiple contracts ranging in size from £3m to over £2bn.

He is currently Chair of the Supply Chain Readiness Group for ICE Project 13 and is a member of the New Civil Engineer Editorial Advisory Board. Tony also holds a non-Executive Advisory role for InTouch, a small Technology company delivering smart assets to the highways and rail sectors.

Tony lives in St Albans with his wife and two teenage boys. He is passionate about rugby, supporting Saracens (whoops!) and Wales has an unfulfilled ambition to go and watch a Lions tour.
