Steve is passionate about data, about applying new technologies to the built environment and about constantly identifying more efficient and smarter ways of working. A leader in his field, he has more than 35 years’ experience in specialist data management systems and the strategic management of highways infrastructure and assets. Before launching his own company; Gaist in 2009,  Steve worked around the world on large scale survey projects including national surveys of both the UK road and rail network. His technical expertise saw him called as an expert witness to the Potters Bar rail crash public inquiry. His career began as an Army field surveyor in the Royal Artillery and since then has carved out a successful career in business and was voted ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ by the Telegraph in 2019.  Steve continues to head up Gaist as Chief Executive and is actively overseeing the company’s UK and international expansion.
